Well, I hope that you can enjoy this heat we have been having, I have been feeling very sorry for my flowers. Even with mulch, rain gardens and harvesting rain water, they are struggling in the heat. We have been washing dishes in a basin in the sink - we have solar panels so lots of hot water - and chucking out the water to the thirstiest plants. It’s still not enough, so looking forward to a downpour soon!
So, normally I wait until the end of the month to send my newsletter, but lots of classes, workshops and other events have firmed up, so I just wanted to let you know about them. And remember, Mullingar is only a. short drive from most of the rest of Ireland - only an hour from Dublin at the weekends!
First up, next Saturday August 20th, the Salty Sea Sisters are coming to swim with us at Lough Owel from 11am-12.30.
We will kick off with Yoga by the wonderful Alice Harrison.
Then there will be a short live 3 women play (to be confirmed) and we’ll jump into the water. There will be live sketches of the meet-up by the very talented Rachel Coyne and after some coffee and cake, I’ll be making some nature mandalas with anyone who would like make something beautiful and ephemeral.
So, yoga, theater, art, dipping, mindfullness, tea and cake. Not bad for a Saturday morning.
On Sunday 21st, 2022 , I’ll be speaking and selling flowers at the Yoga Picnic at Lilliput House, on the banks of Lough Ennell in Co Westmeath.
You can expect an exciting and vibrant day of yoga, movement, meditation and wellness talks as well as the option to experience soundbath, reiki and SUP yoga. We will finish with a soulful Kirtan (yoga music concert). A day of community, connection and vitality! The organisers will have Driftwood sauna by the lake and delicious vegan food (pre book only) for extra indulgence! There will also be yoga goodies and crafts for sale on the day.
My class is at 3:20 - I’ll be talking about worms and mycorrhizal fungi, and how mindfulness can help you and your garden work in harmony.
Download our beautiful brochure for the event below and click on any of the links in the brochure to buy tickets! Tickets here - use Anna10 to get a discount.
I’ll be selling fresh flowers and some of my dried flower wreaths - I have started using felt as well as dried flowers, loving the colour in this one - what do you think?
More events to follow, but in the meantime, I wanted to share a lovely sunset with you. This is our tree farm in Kildare - 30 year old (young?) oaks with the sun setting behind them.
2 useful lessons learned in my recent camping trip there - if you are sleepingin a hammock, you need some kind of under quilt or mattress, hammocks are not the cosiest places to sleep! Also, don’t put the cork into your Kelly Kettle when you are boiling water…
I’m enjoying a collaboration with Westmeath library - I ran a very enjoyable and well attended jam jar flower session in Kilbeggan last week. See below for courses that are coming up - they are all free to attend, and you’ll go home with knowledge and with something that will enhance your enjoyment of life.
18th August – Moate Library – Growing sprouts & microgreens at 6.20pm - book here
25th August – Castlepollard Library – Gardening for Biodiversity at 6.20pm - book here
8th September – Athlone Library – Seed Saving at 6.20pm - book here
22nd Sept - Mullingar Library – No dig gardening at 6pm - book here
Finally, if Athlone is too far, and you’d like to learn about Seed Saving in Mullingar, I’ll be running a course in The Refill Mill on September 15th. One of the best things about a seed saving course is that you go home with loads of free seeds, as well as lots of nw knowledge! DM Eibhlin in The Refill Mill to book a place.
And I’ll finish with a song - as usual. Hope to see you at one or more of the upcoming events!
